World Book Day 2026
On Thursday 5th March we’re celebrating World Book Day, the reading for fun charity.

We champion reading for fun. That’s because it seriously improves lives.
In fact, it’s the biggest indicator that a child will grow up to enjoy a happier and more successful future. Today, only one in three children likes reading. By changing this, we’ll transform lives.
Children are invited to come to school on World Book Day dressed in their pyjamas/nightwear to relax into reading. Please can they wear their usual school shoes to enjoy a safe breaktime. However, if they wish to bring slippers to wear inside, they can.
As part of the school day, children will be taking part in reading activities and sharing stories. If your child would like to bring a book from home, they are more than welcome to do so – this could be their favourite bedtime story or a book they are currently enjoying at home. Please write your child’s name inside the book where possible before sending this to school.
Children will also receive their World Book Day book on that day to take home and keep.
Please see the letter that has gone out below:
Thank you.
