SEND Provision
At Richard Avenue Primary School we offer an alternative SEND provision for children within our Early Years and Key Stage 1 who are unable to access a mainstream curriculum due to their significant level of additional needs.

Curriculum
Within our alternative SEND provision we provide our children with a nurturing, engaging environment with access to sensory regulation resources throughout the day.
This includes:
- Play-based learning experiences.
- A semi formal curriculum model to provide children with early stages of phonics, English and maths skills.
- Inclusion so all children remain on their class register, and where possible, access lessons and off site visits with their peers, with the support of an additional adult.
- A focus on developing independent skills, both in school and in the community.

Support
The children access small group support with high adult to child ratios, as well as:
- Life skills in preparation for adulthood.
- Regular access to sensory equipment.
- Intensive interactions.
- Visual timetables.
- Communication boards for ‘Now and Next’ and for choices at snacktime.
- Support during lunchtimes.
- Individualised learning plans.
- 1:1 interventions.
- Support with toilet training.
Little Adventurers Booklet & SEN Information Report
We have created a useful document called Little Adventurers Booklet that explains our SEND provision and goes into more details, including:
- Entry and exit criteria.
- Curriculum details on maths, english and phonics.
- Visits and Visitors.
