Swimming Gala

Our Y5/6 swimming team competed in the Sunderland Swimming Gala at the Aquatic Centre. Competing in 4x25m freestyle relay and 4x 25m medley relay, the children showed brilliant teamwork to achieve some fast times and just missed out on the grand final. Well done to William, Alec, Jamie, Noah, Grace, Faith, Ava and Jasmine.

Swimming Safety

Total Swimming staff came into school to share with Y6 the importance of being safe in water. They discussed how to get help, how to spot dangers and how to perform safe self rescues. The children produced safety posters to share with their families at home. Working with Total Swimming supports our vision at Richard Avenue, that all children must learn how to swim.

RAPS Basketballers Play at the Home of the Newcastle Eagles | February 14, 2023

RAPS Y5 Basketball Team.

Our Y5 basketballers played at the home of Newcastle Eagles last Friday as they had reached the last 4 of a Sunderland schools competition.

Luca, Jamie, Nia, Masie, Yaseen, Lily, Riyadh and Nasim. were superstars, easing past their semi-final opposition with some fabulous shots and moves, and into the final which took place at half time during the Eagles’ home match against Sheffield Sharks. Our children were quite rightly very excited, and staff and families present were so proud of them all. Although the final didn’t go our way, we took the match to a shoot out with scores tied as the claxon sounded.

It was a fabulous night and one which we know the children will remember for some time. They were the best ambassadors for our school and great fun to be with. Huge thanks to those families who were able to join us and to our the staff team for giving up their time on a Friday evening: Mrs Robson, Miss Hoggett and Miss Le Menn, with extra-special thanks to Mr Spoors for all he did to organise the evening and for his brilliant basketball skills and tactics #superMrSpoors
