Hi everyone we have had lots of going ons from our amazing children and staff both in school and from home since our last update.
Firstly our amazing and sustainable school grounds don’t water and prune themselves! the children have been keeping things looking the way they should with a bit gardening. Always good for the soul and of course nature.
Itβs a good job we have some children in school to give our lovely plants a drink! pic.twitter.com/ww7Kn9JDLe

We’ve also been making messages to pass onto neighbours and to talk about our feelings during lockdown. They can be found hanging around our school fence. As well as this we have been delivering rainbow ribbons to our local neighbours and to our fantastic NHS and care workers. You’re all doing a great job.

The children also made birthday cards for Captain Tom Moore, who I’m sure you have seen raised more than Β£32m for the NHS by completing 100 laps of his Bedfordshire garden by the time he reached his 100th birthday in April , and has since been awarded the Freedom of the City of London. Well done Tom and well done children.

Both online learning contines on Google Classroom, Bugclub, and Rockstar Maths. The staff have also been making and delivering packs to those familes and children who don’t have access to online learning. It’s also worth keeping an eye on the BBC Bitesize website who are doing brilliant online learning lessons and videos for children of all ages . We’ll also post these links up on our Twitter page .

Mr Williams continues to read the younger children a story on a daily basis. Often dressed up, so far we think we’ve seen him as…well just check out the picture below. Again its nice to see a friendly, if sometimes unrecognisable face.
And finally, in case you missed it, and to make you all a little bit happier, the staff and children took some time to make this video for you all. Stay safe… and stay happy!
Hello everyone, we hope you’re all still saying safe during this pandemic lockdown and everyone is well and happy.
Even though we’re officially in the Easter holidays, we still have staff and children of key workers going into school for childcare. To make the most of it the staff put out a weekly schedule of activities for the children in school to try and keep things as varied and exciting as possible.
To give you an idea, the day starts at around 8.30 when the children will perform some daily exercise, this could be Joe Wicks Live , different activities in the hall or if the weather is as glorious as it has been, outdoor activies such as run a mile. After this the children are brought back in at about 9.15 and split into groups to do some educational activities such as maths, english or a reading topic. From 11 the children will go around school and perform various tasks such as gardening and allotment tasks, litter picking, go on the fitness trail, or continue the fabulous chalk drawings on the yard. They’ll break for lunch at 12.15.
After lunch the children work on various fun projects. Next week for example we have in place, making sculptures, flower arranging into vases, making bird feeders and kites, and making delicious chocolate biscuit balls.
With this in mind lets take a look at some of the things that have been going on within school:
To spread some much needed Easter Springtime cheer in the local community the children have been picking our beautiful daffodils from the school grounds and them leaving them on peoples doorsteps. They have already been met with many thanks.
Thank you @Richard_Avenue friends for our beautiful flowers we found on our doorstep this afternoon. We love them! They have cheered us all up.βΊοΈ Hope youβre all keeping well. Isabelle says hello! πΌπΈπ»π #rapsathome pic.twitter.com/0bp46B6ffA

One of the highlights of the week must have been the things the chidren performed around the Olympic games. This included flag making and thinking about the values and ethos of the games. This was followed up by an actual Olympic Games between the children. There was even a podium!
Today we held our very own Olympic Games. We had running races, javelin, shot put and high jump. pic.twitter.com/Z8UcyOISkE

We’ve been reading many stories about how wildlife has become more emboldened during our current lockdown and we’re pleased to announce at RAPS that we have our very own wood pigeon nesting in the juniors yard where normally there would be footballs flying all over the place. Bless her.
You may also have noticed on our twitter feed or the school website that Mr Williams is taking the time to read the younger children a story on a daily basis. Its nice to see a friendly face.
Staff have also carried on adding things for the children on Google Classrooms and Mr Bolton has even done a Class Hangouts Meet where he teachers a lesson over a video conference. We’ll be looking to roll this out more.
Thats all from us now, please be sure to send us any links of fun activities you may find and please check both Twitter and Google Classroom on a daily basis.
Stay safe!
Hello everyone, we hope everyone is staying safe and sound during the current pandemic.
Before the lockdown staff were working extremely hard to get things prepared for what we knew would be a difficult period. Things like working at home packs and setting up online learning so we could continue to work with your children in a safe setting. We also have some workers in school and some children in with them so activities continue there as well.
To keep up to date with the goings on the best place to start would be our Twitter page where we list the various activities the children are up to in school, as well as provide useful links to activities they can be doing at home.
We have also set up a hashtag on twitter #rapsathome where both children and parents can show us what they’re up to. If you wish to add anything for us to see and retweet please place #rapsathome at the end of your twitter post.
The children in school have been doing all sorts of things to keep both the learning and the creativity going. This applies to the staff as well! Usually the day starts off with a live exercise session on YouTube with Joe Wicks , you can also do this at home as well. He’s on every morning at 9am. The day then carries on with a different numbers of activities and fun had by all. You may have seen the beautiful rainbow made by the children of key workers that now sits proudly in notice board outside of school. Or seen some of the amazing artworks they’ve been making on the school yard with chalk.
At home children have been been making rainbows for their windows. Not being able to go to school they are connecting with each other by painting colourful rainbows and putting them in their windows for others to see. I’m sure you may have seen some around when taking your daily exercise.
We have also sent out packs of work for each child to work through steadily. This is being supplemented by a number of online learning platforms we have in place, including Bug Club and Google Classroom .
Google Classroom is a very interactive space and both teachers and children can communicate in real time on it. Staff have been setting assignments for the children, some on a daily basis, and are also using it to communicate with their class to make them aware of different videos activities and learning links. Please keep an eye on that and log in daily .
Other than that we hope you all stay safe, follow government guidelines and we wish you all well.
