On Friday 15th November we celebrated Children in Need and made a great effort with our fundraising. We had a range of activities in school on the day such as a cake sale, face paints and the children being able to wear their own clothes for a donation. As well as this we had games going on in the hall throughout the day where children had the opportunity to win prizes. In total we raised £932.62 which is a fantastic effort and we should all be very proud.

Children in Need 2018 was a great success with the school raising £947.25! Children wore their own clothes for a donation of £1 and donated cakes which were sold on the day for 50p. Along with this we had activities going on during the day in the school hall along with face paints. Of the money raised half was donated to children in need and the other half going to our home charity this year Alzheimer’s Society.
Well done everyone.
We are thrilled and extremely proud to announce that we have raised £2305 for the Alzheimer’s Society from the Memory Walk fundraising. Everyone involved had a lovely day and enjoyed completing the scenic walk along the coast. A huge thank you to everyone who supported our fundraising! We look forward to raising more money for the Alzheimer’s Society throughout the year.
Each year we choose a home charity to raise money for in school. We are happy to announce that this year the children have chosen to support Alzheimer’s Society .
We will be fundraising throughout the year to support this excellent charity but wanted to let you know about the first fundraising event RAPS will be participating in.
As you may already be aware, Alzheimer’s Society organise a sponsored walk called ‘Memory Walk’. As a team of staff, we have decided to participate in the Memory Walk this year. Our head girl, Leana and head boy, Vishal will be participating in the walk with us too!
We will be completing this walk on Saturday 6th October at Bents Exhibition Park in South Shields. We have a Memory Walk team set up for RAPS and if anyone would like to join our team and complete the walk with us, the details are below.
Visit the Memory Walk Website to find out about the walk we are participating in . Register with your details and when you are prompted enter the team code – MW74582. Please let either Miss Cherrett or Mr Old know if you are joining our walk. At RAPS we are looking forward to the walk already and would love any extra additions to our team! We will be completing the 7km however there is a shorter walk of 1.5km. Children can participate in the walk if accompanied by an adult (please bare the distance in mind for smaller children).
We have set up a Just Giving page to fundraise as a group and we would appreciate any sponsors that you would like to make on our page! Leave us a little message of encouragement and support if you do! You can also text RAPS60 £5 to 70070 to donate £5.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to come and ask! We hope you agree we are supporting a fantastic cause and can help us in raising as much as we can for our Memory Walk!
Many thanks for your support
The school have been celebrating Harvest. Mr Hawkins, a representative from Elim Church came to visit us to share a story from the bible. The story told was “The Five Loaves and Two Fishes”. It reminded us how we need to share and think of others in times of need.
It is nice to help people and share our food… It is important for people to help each other. We help a lot at our school. It makes you feel good.
The school presented the church with a huge donation of groceries for their food bank, this was thanks to the generosity of our pupils, parents and staff. Mr Hawkins and Elim church were so grateful that he presented us with a special certificate to say thank you.
We are inviting all parents and friends to come along to our Macmillan Coffee Morning 2017 where we will be serving delicious cakes and coffee to help make a huge difference to cheap phentermine people facing cancer.
The morning is on Friday 29th September 2017 at 9am at the Richard Avenue Primary School Community Room.
See you all there for a nibble and a natter.
During Fairtrade Fortnight the children learned all about Fairtrade and the impact that buying Fairtrade products have on the lives of people in poorer countries.
The children made Fairtrade biscuits and held their own Fairtrade event, which raised £135.07 for the Fairtrade Foundation. As a school we have worked towards gaining a Fairtrade Award and recently have managed to do this. We are now a FairActive School.
The school has raised lots of money for Children in Need 2016.
The children wore a variety of outfits to raise money including their own clothes, spotty and Pudsey clothes. They also baked and sold cakes, bought toys, had a name the bear competition…and lots more!!
We raised A MASSIVE £1,099.71 to help children less fortunate than us. Some of this money is also donated to our ‘Home Charity’-The Children’s Foundation. This helps poorly children at the Sunderland Hospital.
