Over the years we have been recieved many awards. Below is a full list of the ones we currently hold and why we where awarded them.

We received the Healthy Schools Awards for Sunderland in recognition of improving health & wellbeing outcomes for both physical activity & road safety.

We have been awarded an Arts Council Artsmark Gold Award for commitment to quality arts education. We are currently in the process of renewing the award.

We have been awarded the Northumbria in Bloom Gold award for Growing together . An assessor viewed all outdoor areas in school grading us the highest ‘gold’ standard within the Northumbria area.

We have received the International Eco-Schools Award Certificate for continued excellence in improving the environmental performance of the school and the wider community.

We have received the Fairtrade Active Award for our continued effort to teach the children about global issues and awareness about where our food comes from. We hold an annual Fairtrade week and throughout the year the children make and sell Fairtrade products.

We were awarded the Great Active Sunderland School Charter gold award, for demonstrating the schools continuing contribution to PE, sport, and physical activity and its role in the community.

The school was awarded the School Games Platinum Award for demonstrating the highest level of sport teaching and provision both within school and in competition settings.

At RAPS we work so hard to promote Anti-bullying and we are thrilled to announce that we have been recognised for the fantastic work we do by receiving Platinum for our recent application.

We have been awarded the Northumberland and Tyne & Wear Gold Smoke Free School Award.

The school received the Sing Up Silver award for the promoting of singing throughout school and in the community. This includes singing in assemblies, school plays, and the school choir which sings throughout the local community.

The school was awarded the QISS award for providing high quality provision of after-school clubs throughout the year. We are currently working towards renewing this.

The school was awarded the Basic Skills Quality Mark for quality standards in the teaching, assessment, and tracking of numeracy and literacy to ensure all pupils can reach their potential.

Richard Avenue is a Stonewall Bronze School Champion . The Stonewall School Awards give greater recognition to schools tackling homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying and celebrating diversity. They also enable schools to effectively benchmark their progress and give direction to their ongoing work in this area. Bronze School Champions have highly inclusive school policies, actively tackle homophobic bullying, embed LGBT issues in their curriculum and staff training and support diversity in the wider school community.

At Richard Avenue we pride ourselves on providing an education that promotes Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) development which is the over-arching umbrella that encompasses personal development across the whole curriculum. Strong evidence shows that promoting SMSC in schools can contribute to raising academic standards and improves children’s life chances and prepares pupils for life in a modern world. Here at Richard Avenue, we are happy to say we have achieved the National GOLD SMSC quality mark . Well done everyone!

We received the Quality Mark for History Silver Award in recognition of our excellent History provision throughout the school.

We received the School Games Award Mark for our ongoing commitment and achievement in the School Games Programme during the Autumn & Spring Terms, and the School Games Virtual Award Mark for our support, commitment and engagement of virtual programmes during the Summer Term.
