The Arts

At Richard Avenue we believe developing and celebrating arts provision is hugely important for the children’s education. Learning about arts history and different artistic disciplines are embedded within our curriculum structure and extra-curricular clubs. Some of our members of staff hold their honours degrees in an arts based subject and use this experience and knowledge to help form the artistic expression of our pupils.

We will use this page to show examples of this in practice.

School Website Desgin

The school website was designed with help from the children. Instead of taking on the design ourselves, we decided to open it up to input from the children. All pupils where involved in drawing images for various defined sections of the website. This way the website became both theirs and also practically showed them how creativity can be used in professional practice. Some of drawings we received are shown below:

Build a City

The whole school took part in building a magnificent city of their own imagination. Everyone had the opportunity to tour the city and take in the sights, sounds and smells that we created together. The children loved being able to explore ideas and make a fantastic three dimensional work.
