Year 4 visits the Mayor

Year 4 visited the Madam Mayor today to discuss the issues that are affecting our local area. The children were invited to the Council Chambers where they put discussed their problems with Madam Mayor and local councilors. The children were invited to help design an artwork project which will take place behind the school next year.

Year 3 and 4 Sunderland Hockey Finals | November 26, 2018

The Year 3 and 4 hockey team.

Our Year 3 and 4 Hockey team went to Silksworth to represent the school in the Sunderland Hockey Finals. They won every game in their group to advance to the final. After going 1-0 behind they showed great determination to come back and win the game 4-1 to become the champions of Sunderland and advance to the Tyne and wear Finals.

The Y5/6 Rugby Champions

On a number of Monday evenings after school the Y5/6 Rugby team took part in the first ever Sunderland Tag Rugby League.

The team played seven games demonstrating great team spirit and dedication as they came from behind on a number of occasions. They won three games, drew three and lost one to be named as joint champions.

All the children from Year 4,5 and 6 took part in the Go Run For Fun Event. They ran 2KM around Silksworth Sports Complex with hundreds of children from other schools. The event was great fun and taught the children that running short distances can be both fun and important in order to lead a healthy lifestyle.

To celebrate the Tall Ships coming to Sunderland this July, the children have visited the Port 300 exhibit in the school hall provided to us by the Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens.

Children Enjoyed learning about the River Wear, ship building in Sunderland, and the many famous local people involved in shipping.

New Wear Crossing Trip | May 19, 2017

As part of the research and understanding of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), Year 5 wanted to find out about the jobs that are available around our local area. They were one of the first local school groups to visit the site of the New Wear Crossing, which is due to be complete in Spring 2018. While their they were given a lot of amazing facts about what it takes to complete an amazing piece of art, such as the bridge.

The children used the viewing deck to see how th work on the bridge was taking shape and saw a range of STEM workers undertaking their daily activities. The were told about the importance of the new bridge and how it is set to bring in millions in revenue to the local area.
