Learning about Christian Baptism | October 16, 2014

Children Watch the mock baptism
The children learn how a Christian is baptised.

Year 1 visited St Nicolas Church in Sunderland to learn all about Baptisms. Reverend Stephanie of the church taught the children how Christian’s welcome people into their religion through Baptism and what was involved in the ceremony. After the mock-ceremony the children had a good look around the church at all the outstanding features such as the pews and the stained glass windows.

Sunny “down our school” | October 13, 2014

The school was privileged to be visited by Sun FM’s, Sunny the Seagull the other day. We would like to thank whoever nominated us for a visit by this monumental bird.

Below you can view a slideshow of photos taken with the children.

Food for Thought… | October 6, 2014

Foodbank donations
The children hand over the donated items.

The children and staff of Richard Avenue Primary have been collecting lots of food to donate to the Sunderland Foodbank to help people in need of food. Foodbank Manager, Hilma Cairns and local pastor John visited us during one of our assemblies to thank us for our kind donations.

A big thank you to everyone who donated, the food will be well used.
